Books AND people IN media LITERACY!

1. Oprah Winfrey- One of the most riches people in the world, in my eyes she gives the world so much to offer. Her show itself speaks for how she care about the people in the world. She donates and basically hands out cars like its nobodies business. this lady is "OK" in my book!


2.Bible- One of the most influential books known to be made. This book right here guides my life and helps me gather my mind, body, and spirit. It helps many people cope with life struggles, and to see what happened before we were even thought about. the bible is a tool everyone should have with them no matter what, always remember that the the bible is your friend and it can help you get out of anything you want.

3. Steve Jobs- an American businessman and inventor widely recognized as a charismatic pioneer of the personal computer revolution. He was co-founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Apple Inc. Jobs was co-founder and previously served as chief executive of Pixar Animation Studios.

4. Sports Illustrated- One of top magazines in the world today, they have a variety of fun sports facts and all the up to date sports news around the world.

5. Stephen King- A great author, he is one of the all time great movie and book writers of this world.

8. Stephen Glass- one hell of a reporter, even though he made up most of them he has great writing skills and is doing well for himself as of right now!

9. Alec Haley- Wrote a phenomenal story about how African Americas came to the United states, from slavery until now. his work has been great and i applaud this man for his efforts. 


10. Malcolm X- My favorite activist of all time, he was a man who spoke his mind and was never afraid to bite his tongue. Motivational speaker, loved his people. 

11. Michael Jordan - Greene, Bob. Rebound: the odyssey of Michael Jordan. New York, N.Y., U.S.A.: Viking, 1995. Print.

12. Romeo & Juliet- Everyone has had to read or saw this movie, a classic by William Shakespeare about a romance between two feuding family's. Love story that ends tragic! 

13. Alice Walker- A woman who made books about gender and race, also she is a activist in our world.

1. Allen Iverson - one of my favorite NBA players, he the best undersized shooting guard in league history. 


2. YouTube- YouTube is a video-sharing website, created by three former PayPal employees in February 2005, on which users can upload, view and share videos. I also love watching YouTube because it has the funniest things on here you can imagine, its a search engine that has instant videos whenever you need them. You Tube helped people in Duluth twist my dreads lol


3. Dreadlocks- Dreads are dear to my life, I have been growing them for 2 years now and I have fallen in love with them. I can be considered a Rastafarian because of my hair. You see alot of people with dreads now days, I think it brings out the inner beauty in people. I am glad i chose to grow mione out! Its not just at hair style its a lifestyle!



4. The Wire- Last year i watched this television series in class and just loved it. It 's based on the street and crimes of Baltimore,Maryland. I enjoy this show so much because it reminds me of home, I now see that Minneapolis isn't the worst city in the world because I too was witnessing crimes and drugs going on just like the show portrayed. its a great series and i recommend everyone to pick it up and watch it sometime.

5. Barney & Friends- When i was growing up this was the show to watch, Barney was the best thing happening in the 90's. His show brought me laughter and made me feel good whenever I needed to. I even had got some barney pajamas ha. 


6. Twitter-Twitter is an online social networking and micro blogging service that enables its users to send and read text-based posts of up to 140 characters, informally known as "tweets.  Twitter is my best friend now days because i fuse it to express my feelings to the world, or to whoever is following me lol Twitter is also a comedy showcase, when you follow the right people it can be fun but if you don't it can be brutal and boring. Overall twitter beats FACEBOOK! lol
7. Black Planet- BlackPlanet is an African-American community website, or Social Network Site (SNS), and started as a place for matchmaking and job postings but also has forums for discussion on political and social issues. The most popular forums were Relationships, Heritage & Identity, Current Events, Religion & Spirituality, and Women
8. NCAA- The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a semi-voluntary association of 1,281 institutions, conferences, organizations and individuals that organizes the athletic programs of many colleges and universities in the United States. It is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana.In August 1973, the current three-division setup of Division I, Division II, and Division III was adopted by the NCAA membership in a special convention. Under NCAA rules, Division I and Division II schools can offer scholarships to athletes for playing a sport. Division III schools may not offer any athletic scholarships. Generally, larger schools compete in Division I and smaller schools in II and III. Division I football was further divided into I-A and I-AA in 1978. Subsequently the term "Division I-AAA" was briefly added to delineate Division I schools which do not field a football program at all, but that term is no longer officially used by the NCAA.[4] In 2006, Divisions I-A and I-AA were respectively renamed the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). I am currently a Division III athlete  at CSS :)

9. B.E.T- Black Entertainment Television (BET, part of BET Networks) is an American, Viacom-owned cable network based in Washington, D.C.. Currently viewed in more than 90 million homes worldwide, it is the most prominent television network targeting young Black-American audiences. The network was launched on January 25, 1980, by its founder, Robert L. Johnson. I watch this show all the time, its very entertaining and the shows on here are so funny! BET has you laughing all day.

10. Cell Phones- I have had a cell phone for about 8 years now and i can honestly say they are lifesavers. They are very helpful to make a call when your stranded, need help, or if you want to chit chat with a friend. The technology has risen to great extremes, now we can video chat and take picture and use the internet on our phones. This has to be one of the best inventions ever.

11. Myspace- One of the most popular social networks. I remember when i first started to use this site when i was in 7th grade. When In look back at it I realized i met alot of people and had some crazy and wild pictures. Myspace is great for socializing and meeting new people, also its great to promote your art, music, or photography skills. 

12.Steve Smith- My favorite Professional Football player since 2001, its funny how loyal I have been to him and the panthers. One of the premiere recievers in the league, I use to want to be like him when I was playing parkboard football.


13. Dancing- Rhythm and movement between the joints and hips. I love to dance and get danced on. There are many types of dances like hip hop, classic, ballroom, and reggae-ton! I enjoy all of it people should try it, its the best!    


14. 15. Duke Basketball- The Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team is the college basketball program representing Duke University in the Atlantic Coast Conference of NCAA Division I. It is the fourth-winningest men's basketball program of all-time and is presently coached by Mike Krzyzewski. Duke has won four NCAA championships (fifth all-time) and appeared in 10 Championship Games (second all-time) and 15 Final Fours (third all-time), and has an NCAA-best .750 NCAA tournament winning percentage.[citation needed] Eleven Duke players have been named the National Player of the Year, while 71 players have been selected in the NBA Draft. In the 2008–2009 NBA season, Duke had more former players on NBA rosters than any other school.[2] Additionally, Duke has had 55 All-Americans and 14 Academic All-Americans.

16. Chicken- Named one of the best foods ever in my book! Black people love chicken and so do I, it has a great taste and I just love to eat it and could eat it any day of the week.


17. Drake-Aubrey Drake Graham who records under the mononym Drake, is a Canadian recording artist and actor. He originally became known for playing Jimmy Brooks on the television series Degrassi: The Next Generation.In June 2009, Drake signed a recording contract with Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment.  In November 2009, Lil Wayne released a statement announcing that Drake's first studio album, Thank Me Later, had been completed. The album was released on June 15, 2010, and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The album has since gone platinum. He released his second studio album on November 15, 2011 titled Take Care. Drake was set to release an R&B mixtape sometime in the future along with a collaboration album with Lil Wayne however both have been postponed for various reasons. Drake has worked with several other hip-hop artists such as Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Kanye West, Eminem, and Jay-Z. With the success of his mixtape turned EP So Far Gone, Drake has been nominated for several awards including Grammys, even being selected to perform at the 2010 Grammy award ceremony. Drake has also won several awards, including two Juno Awards in 2010 for Best New Artist, and Rap Recording of the Year.


18. Chinese Food-Chinese cuisine is any of several styles originating in the regions of China, some of which have become highly popular in other parts of the world – from Asia to the Americas, Australia, Western Europe and Southern Africa. The history of Chinese cuisine stretches back for many centuries and produced both change from period to period and variety in what could be called traditional Chinese food, leading Chinese to pride themselves on eating a wide range of foods. Major traditions include Anhui, Cantonese, Fujian, Hunan, Jiangsu, Shandong, Szechuan, and Zhejiang cuisines.  I enjoy fried rice a lot and I had some twice this past weekend.

19. Gatorade-Gatorade is a brand of sports-themed food and beverage products, built around its signature product: a line of sports drinks. Gatorade is currently manufactured by PepsiCo, distributed in over 80 countries. The beverage was first developed in 1965 by researchers at the University of Florida, to replenish the combination of water, carbohydrates, and electrolytes that the school's student-athletes lost (in sweat) during rigorous athletic competitions. Its name was derived from the collective nickname of the university's athletic teams, "the Gators". I often drink this on a regular basis its good for you and it helps you regain electrolytes in your body!

20.Delasalle- DeLaSalle High School is a Catholic, college preparatory high school located for its entire 111-year history on Nicollet Island, adjacent to downtown Minneapolis, USA. Then-Archbishop John Ireland helped raise money to build the new Catholic secondary school in Minneapolis.It goes down as my favorite school ever i have accomplished alot there and gain many friendships for a lifetime. The best high school in Minnesota hands down.


21.Carolina Panthers- My favorite team in the NFL, been my favorite every since 2001. I am a loyal fan of these guys even though they have their ups and downs ill always be a panther fan. GO PANTHERS!

22.Tyrann Mathieu- Hard to believe this guy is my age and is considered as a Heisman candidate, he is very talented and shows great skill each and every week. He plays for the Louisiana state University the #1 team in the country. He is listed as 5'9 175 pounds, his nick name is the honey badger.

24. Skull Candy-Skullcandy is a Park City, Utah-based company that markets headphones, earphones, hands free devices, audio backpacks, MP3 players and other products. The company was founded in 2003.Skullcandy's products are targeted at the outdoor action sports demographic (snowboarders, skateboarders, etc.) and general consumer market. Skullcandy products are sold through retailers, specialty outlets, and their online store. 


25. Love-  Is something everyone should be able to feel and share with others. Love is strong, it deals with emotions and can be good or bad. Love is the root of all evil, once you loved one you could possibly not love another. Love can be warm, and you can spend your life with the one you love! Love is just Great!

27.Subway- A franchise that sells primarily subs and it one of the healthiest places to eat in the world. It is owned and operated by Doctor's Associates, Inc. (DAI). Subway is one of the fastest growing franchises in the world with 35,519 restaurants in 98 countries and territories as of October 25th, 2011. It is the largest single-brand restaurant chain globally and is the second largest restaurant operator globally after Yum! Brands (35,000 locations).

28. Chipotle- A layed back mexican restaurant that provides great meals for a great price. I use to eat one of these every week when I went to Delasalle high school.

On February 25, 2007, Netflix announced the billionth DVD delivery. In April 2011, Netflix announced 23.6 million subscribers.

Matter cannot quite reach the speed of light, as this would require an infinite amount of energy.

32. Track and Field- Track and field is a sport comprising various competitive athletic contests based around the activities of running, jumping and throwing. The name of the sport derives from the venue for the competitions: a stadium which features an oval running track surrounding a grassy area. The throwing and jumping events generally take place within the central enclosed area.Track and field is one of the sports which (along with road running, cross-country running and race walking) makes up the umbrella sport of athletics. It is under the banner of athletics that the two most prestigious international track and field competitions are held: the athletics competition at the Olympic Games and the IAAF World Championships in Athletics. The International Association of Athletics Federations is the international governing body for track and field.

Sherome Milon- Two sport college athlete,Two-time conference champion … Two-time all-conference in football and track & field … Two-time All-State choice in track & field … Seven-time sub-section champion … Four-time State qualifier … Member of 4x100-meter relay state champion … Made the Honor Roll. Played in eight games, including five starts … Had a season-high four tackles vs. Greenville, MacMurray and Northwestern … Registered at least one tackle in six of the eight games … Had a pass break-up vs. Northwestern.

34. gophers-The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers are one of the oldest programs in college football history. They compete in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision and the Big Ten Conference. The Golden Gophers have claimed six national championships and have an all time record of 646–481–44 as of November 26th, 2011. Since 2009, the Gophers have played all their home games at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.


35. Pandora- Pandora Radio is an automated music recommendation service and custodian of the Music Genome Project available only in the United States. The service plays musical selections similar to song suggestions entered by a user. The user provides positive or negative feedback for songs chosen by the service, which are taken into account for future selections.


36. go slow mo- This song me and my friend made on I tunes and the mac book pro, it was my senior year of high school and it took us a few minutes to make it. It's funny now that i listen to it but hey you live and learn. I'm the first one singing!  




37. Greg Carlson-Greg Carlson (born March 4, 1948) is an American football coach in the United States. He is currently the head football coach at The College of St. Scholastica, where he was hired in 2007 as the school's first football coach. The program began play the following season in 2008. Carlson previously served as the head football coach at Wabash College from 1983 to 2001 and at Whittier College from 2003 to 2005.        




38.Lil B- Brandon McCartney (born August 17, 1989), known by his stage name Lil B or "The BasedGod", is a rapper from Berkeley, California. He has recorded both solo and with the Pack. In addition, Lil B is noted for his extensive use of social media Web sites such as MySpace and Twitter to build an online following. Also one of my favorite artist right now, he got swagg and just great music that makes you think. Some of it is kinda degrading but other than that he is a beast.




39. Rivals.com- A place where you can find all the talent of the united states. They rank players from state to state and show recruiting, colleges, and NFL stats.


40. NBA-The National Basketball Association (NBA) is the pre-eminent men's professional basketball league in North America. It consists of thirty franchised member clubs, of which twenty-nine are located in the United States and one in Canada. It is an active member of USA Basketball (USAB) which is recognized by the International Basketball Federation as the National Governing Body (NGB) for basketball in the United States. The NBA is one of the four major North American professional sports leagues.
