Technology Critique

                This pass two class sessions Rob has talked to us about the media just like he does every class period. We were assigned to critique his lectures, rob can talk for days so I was like let me get my notepad out and see what he’s talking about. We was told to figure out if what he was talking about was right and do we agree with him and how do we think the media would be in the future.

“In Media Ras” was one of the first things that were up on the chalk board. I didn’t have a clue what that was, but now I know it means into the middle of things.  “In Media ras” is where a story begins in the middle or at the conclusion.  Media comes in many shapes and forms; it comes at the blink of an eye, a touch, sense everything around you is media.  I feel that us as individual’s we have this installed in us. When we remember stories from others, and continue to tell them but leave out certain spots of the story. Technology has risen in these days; Rob mentioned “artificial intelligence” which is the intelligence of machines and the branch of computer science that aims to create it. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). First off having a computer that talks to you is way more advanced then what we had the first computer that only solved math and addition problems.  The thing about this is my grandparents don’t even know what this is. Technology is moving and producing just like woman produce babies. There is always something out every month, some new technology that people are buying and spending their live savings on.  The future is in a rude awakening, but I don’t know if it’s going to be good or bad.it sup in the air, I like technology but even at my young age I still question why the need for all of this?

 I do agree that archive is the main point of media. In this world we live off archive, we had archive before all these memory cards and flash drives came out. Our eyes help us archive, but computers have blown it away. You can search old news clips, pictures, and movies on the internet do to this thing called archive. Archive can be good and it can be bad, bringing up old memories can be a blessing but when you see a picture with that one ex you hate and your new girlfriend hate can be trouble. I belive archive is a great thing in technology but sometimes I feel like it can be too much.

“What does it mean to be a host?” Rob talked about how theirs TV show host, game shows, and we individuals are all host. In the future we will have robots that host everything. I mean if Rocky Balboa had one in the 80’s in the 2000’s there has definitely got to be on out here in the near future. Media is our host we watch it, listen to it, all that. The World is our host we live here; the earth brings and takes us different places and experiences everyday.  Then when Rob said that “we are the media of angels” I really sat back in deep thought. We are constantly promoting and making movies for the angels above, that’s weird because they know you’re every move they even know what word I’m typing on this paper as I type!

The future of media in my eyes will be drastic, I mean there are already touch screen TV’s and computers. Then with this binary code madness code is nuts, you can control all the media with a switch of a button? Wow that’s just like how we can pull the plug on a person’s body when they are in a coma it’s just insane. Technology will be scary in the next few years. Imagine having a life like the “Jetsons” that’s what I see in my eyes. We have electric cars; we will soon have floating houses, teleportation systems. The cell phones will be way more advanced, some phones now have so much technology that most people hate to use them. “Smart phone” is what they are called, they auto correct your spelling so what’s next? I believe that there will be phones that speak to you and tell you when you got to do stuff. 3-D will be in the past and we will have 6-D’s and 7’D’s if that is even possible. I know I’m excited and scared for the future I just hope the technology advancements that are going to occur doesn’t ruin anything in this world!
